REVEREND DR. CARL EDWARD DAVIS & MRS. IVERA DAVIS
Reverend Dr. Carl Edward Davis was born and raised in New York City, New York. He was educated in the NYC public and private school system. He earned his BA degree in Religious Studies from the College of New Rochelle at the New York Theological Seminary Campus. Dr. Davis earned his Master of Divinity degree from the Princeton Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington DC. Dr. Davis is a son of Bethel Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. In 1994, he received his license to preach the gospel and in 1995, Dr. Davis was ordained and served as an Associate Minister under the late Dr. W. J. Hall, D.D. In 1998-2000, he served as an Associate Minister of the First Baptist Church of Princeton, N J under Rev. Dr. Felicia Y Thomas. He is married to the former Ivera Cammon. They have two sons Carl and Claudell and two grand children Aniyah and Jayden.
Dr. Davis served as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Ken-Gar from January 2001-May 2015. He is currently serving as the Interim Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, PA. He has demonstrated a tireless, reverent, and persistent spirit and approach to serving God’s people. The vision that he has brought to the church is based on strategically, systematically, and intentionally helping disciples discover their spiritual gifts, combining a biblical foundation with a commitment to excellence in worship. He is dedicated to a pastorate that nurtures the whole person, and is committed to outreach on the local, national, and global levels.
Dr. Davis brings to the table dedication and direction from the Holy Spirit to mend fragments of shattered lives, in the name of Jesus Christ, through pastoral presence, spirituality, leadership, and discipline. Dr Davis is currently a full time faculty associate professor at the Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary, where he is Academic Dean of the Seminary Division.
Dr. Davis is a current member of the American Baptist Churches USA and Region of the South, and served as past President of Area 1 Ministers Council – Senate Representative for ABCOTS Regional Minister’s Council - member of ABC USA National Ministers Council Executive committee. He currently is a member of the Black Ministers’ Conference of Montgomery County, member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), member of NAACP Montgomery County, and member of the Kensington-Chevy Chase Ministerium.
Dr. Davis’ favorite hymn is Amazing Grace. Dr. Davis once was lost but now is found was blind but now he can see. He has been through many dangers, toils and snares, for is grace that has brought him safe thus far, and that same grace will lead him home.
